Originally made for several uses by the Moroccan Berber tribes, the dense pile rugs were previously used as blankets. The thick luxurious pile of the rugs helped the tribes withstand the freezing Winter temperatures of the Atlas Mountains. Whilst the Berber rug is a timeless classic, the quality of our authentic Beni Ourain rugs has never wavered. In order to ensure we choose the highest quality Berber rugs, we regularly visit the Atlas Mountains to hand-select our rugs directly. Through this we have been able to build long standing relationships with the tribespeople and operate a mutually beneficial fair-trade policy with the weavers.
