This impressive Beni Ourain rug was handcrafted by 310cm x 210cm , a member of the Moroccan Berber tribe. It measures Habiba, and was woven by hand using the same techniques used by talented weavers for centuries. Each generation of skilled designers taught their methods and practices to the next generation.

Naturally Sourced

This lovely Berber rug was sourced from northern Africa’s Atlas Mountains and its chic appealing characteristics cannot be imitated. This is because one-of-a-kind designs are one of the most endearing features  of Beni Ourain rugs - each one has been individually handwoven with the artist's choice of design. Far from random designs, the motifs that each tribe member weaves into the design of the rug symbolizes something specific. For example, some patterns may feature symbols for good luck or those believed to keep evil away. Others may be signs of fertility, prayer symbols, or morphemes that showcase the weaver’s family history. Wool that is handspun is used to carefully and precisely weave each textile with an unwavering attention to detail. This type of craftsmanship guarantees a beautiful, one-of-a-kind product.

Suitable for all Decors

The calming neutral colours used by Berber rug weavers are typically soft, natural shades that smoothly blend with home interior styles of all kinds. We make several trips to the Atlas Mountains throughout the year, where we have built up a mutually beneficial business relationship with Beni Ourain Tribes.

Berber Rug Care

To the surprise of many of our customers, these light-coloured rugs are relatively easy to clean and care for by following a few simple tips. One of the reasons for their stain resistant characteristics is the lanolin that is naturally found in the wool from which Berber rugs are made. Lanolin helps protect against stains and helps to prevent them from sinking into the material. Use a damp cloth to address spills as they occur, and make sure you wipe in the weave’s natural direction. If a deep clean is needed, however, we suggest using a professional.
