Measuring 430cm x 290cm, this distinct Beni Ourain rug was made by hand with great care by Nadia, a Moroccan Berber tribes woman. The same techniques have been utilized by these skilled artisans for centuries. The weaving methods put to use by each tribe's women were taught by master weavers and were handed down from one generation to the next.

Naturally Sourced

The origin of this superb Berber rug is the Atlas Mountains of North Africa. The tribal markings it features are both fascinating and thought-provoking, and the one-of-a-kind design ensures a uniqueness that cannot be copied. Not just aimless designs, the motifs woven into each rug by members of indigenous tribes symbolize specific elements, such as meditation and prayer, family history, and fertility rites and sexuality. Some of these designs are also centuries-old good luck symbols or designs believed to ward off evil. Handspun wool is used to weave each textile with uncompromising focus on each detail. This guarantee is an authentic product every time.

Suitable for all Interiors

The neutral colours used throughout the process of Berber rug weaving are soft tones that easily blend with almost any interior design scheme. Throughout the year, we make numerous trips to the Atlas Mountains to individually choose all Berber rugs in order to offer only the finest quality products to our customers.

Berber Rug Care

These light-coloured rugs can be maintained and cared for quite easily, much to the surprise of many of our customers! One characteristic that makes Berber rug cleaning simple and uncomplicated is the lanolin found in the sheep’s wool from which the rug is made. Lanolin is a natural barrier to most stains, and helps prevent most substances from penetrating the surface. Use a damp cloth, being careful to wipe in the natural direction of the weave, and eliminate stains before they become problematic. We recommend using a professional for a full, deep cleaning, however.
